From Impact Day to Life-Saving Missions

From a single evening of generosity to life-saving action on the ground, the Impact Day Gala became more than a moment—it became momentum. The funds raised are now translating into critical neurosurgical missions, where expertise meets urgent need.

In December, the Impact Day Gala gathered voices of impact for an evening shaped by a shared belief: that meaningful change is possible, even in uncertain times. The evening was dedicated to raising funds for Swedish–African Neurosurgical Collaboration (SANC), a non-profit working to strengthen neurosurgical care and knowledge exchange between Sweden and Africa.

Thanks to the generosity of participating companies, partners, and guests, the gala raised funds that have already made a tangible difference. The support contributed to another neurosurgical mission, enabling teams to deliver critical surgeries and collaborate with local medical professionals on the ground. These missions are not only about performing life-saving operations; they are about building long-term capacity.

A central focus of SANC’s work is addressing the shortage of trained neurosurgeons and surgical teams in many of the countries where they operate. Providing quality neurosurgical care requires more than a single specialist; it demands a coordinated team of surgeons, nurses, anaesthesiologists, and technicians working together. Through its programs, SANC collaborates closely with local hospitals and healthcare professionals to strengthen this interprofessional approach.

Sustainable change comes from capacity building led by local teams. SANC supports development by sharing expertise, training local neurosurgeons, and working side-by-side with medical staff to strengthen systems of care. Over time, this collaboration empowers local hospitals to independently deliver advanced neurosurgical treatment to patients who would otherwise have little or no access to such care.

The mission that followed the Impact Day Gala demonstrates exactly what these contributions make possible. The funds raised have helped facilitate new surgeries, hands-on training, and deeper collaboration between Swedish specialists and local healthcare teams, turning generosity into real outcomes for patients and communities.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the gala and helped make this mission possible. Your contribution directly supports SANC’s work to strengthen neurosurgical care where it is needed most.
